Friendships, superpowers and small wins

Ode to friendships

I recently attended an event hosted by my incredibly talented friend, Lika Tan, whom I had the pleasure of meeting during a hackathon. The event dove into career advice, entrepreneurship and the importance of surrounding ourselves with good friends and the kind of people we aspire to be. This got me reflecting on my most impactful friendships throughout my life.

A friendship like mine with my best friend Su is a rare gift - one that doesn't just create memories, but shapes entire life paths.

She taught me to drive, introduced me to the art of taking calculated risks in business, and took me on countless adventures driving cross-country across the United States while we talked about hundreds of business ideas.

Our adventure-seeking curious souls were perfectly in sync. We would listen to audiobooks and podcasts on those journeys and talk about key learnings - highly recommended activity!

We even got chased by a bear on a hike in the Smoky Mountains - the aroma of two footlong meaty subs wafting from my backpack caught a bear's attention - suddenly transforming our peaceful hike into one of the most memorable misadventures.

After graduation, we embarked on a number of businesses together from export and import in fishing, selling books on eBay to supplying take-out containers to local restaurants.

Although we are miles apart now, I watch with joy as she thrives. She has built multiple successful businesses, creating a blueprint that inspires my own entrepreneurial journey. Through her example, she showed me that with determination and creativity, I too can forge my own path to success with my unique abilities.

Looking Ahead 🚀

As 2025 approaches in just 6 weeks, we at Foam On Latte Inc. are working with a sense of urgency, focusing on closing out year-end projects and mapping our plans for the coming year. We are aiming to increase our speaking engagements, produce more informative blogs, read more books, and continue growing as founders.

Small wins

So far, 100% of our clients returned to us for a second project. As a lean team that consistently punches above its weight class, this validation fuels our confidence. We are optimistic about the next year.

A book I am loving 🧠

I’m currently reading The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, and I am fascinated by how incredible our brain is and how little we truly understand about it.

This book explores the groundbreaking scientific discovery of neuroplasticity - the brain's ability to change and adapt throughout a person's lifetime.

The book challenges the long-held belief that the brain is a static organ with limited capacity for change after early childhood development.

If you are curious about neuroscience, intrigued by the mysteries of the brain, or love diving into scientific discoveries, this book comes highly recommended.

Thinking of our superpowers 🦸

This week I spent some time thinking about the importance of identifying our unfair advantages - our superpowers that allow us to see the world through a unique lens and give us a competitive edge.

Here are some questions I have been reflecting on:

  • What are some of the things I am naturally good at?

  • What are some of the resources I have access to that many others don’t?

  • What unique life experiences do I have that I can share to help others?

Side Quests 👀

My partner, Batuhan, and I are launching some fun apps to the App Store in early 2025! We have some great apps under development and can’t wait to share them with you all.
